Festival crowd celebrates as a balloon carrying firecrackers takes off succesfully at Taunggyi balloon festival in Myanmar. The Taunggyi balloon festival is an annual event that pays homage to the Sulamani Pagoda in heaven by sending up decorated balloons. The decorated paper balloons are 5-15 meters tall carrying a long tail loaded with firecrackers or candles. Taunggyi is the capital of the Shan state of Myanmar, every year almost 200 000 people attend the festival.
